As the polar ice caps melt ever faster, Manny, Sid, Diego, and Scrat return to face a new threat far greater than climate change. They discover that the melting opens the way to a previously unknown icy region: a land of mystery, unexpected prehistoric creatures, and the grave threat of an active ice volcano that could cause massive destruction.

Meanwhile, Scrat finds an ancient artifact that can control ice and decides to protect it from the strange creatures hunting it. Manny and his friends must join forces with unique locals, including a flock of frozen birds who have been trapped for thousands of years, to save their ruined icy world.
