Disney’s “Moana: Live Action” brings the beloved animated adventure to life with stunning visuals and a star-studded cast, featuring Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui, and Zendaya as Moana. The first trailer teases a visually breathtaking retelling of the Polynesian legend, filled with adventure, heart, and epic oceanic quests.

The trailer begins with a sweeping view of the island of Motunui, the sun rising over lush landscapes, serene beaches, and vibrant village life. Moana (Zendaya) is seen staring out at the ocean, a reflection of her longing for adventure beyond the horizon. Her grandmother’s voice echoes: “The ocean is calling. You are chosen.”

We are then introduced to a young Moana as she grows up learning about her ancestors’ voyages and the story of the mischievous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson). The scene shifts, showing glimpses of the ocean interacting with Moana, playfully pushing her as a child and later guiding her raft on her daring journey.

As the familiar musical score begins to swell, we see Moana setting sail, determined to find Maui and restore the heart of Te Fiti. The trailer quickly cuts to an introduction of Maui, whose tattoos are brought to life with incredible CGI. Maui’s larger-than-life personality dominates the scene as he performs his signature haka-style dance and boasts, “What can I say except you’re welcome!”

The trailer showcases the heartwarming and often humorous dynamic between Moana and Maui as they bicker, bond, and confront their fears together. Action sequences quickly ramp up, with stunning shots of Moana navigating dangerous waters, battling storms, and facing mythical creatures, including the menacing lava monster, Te Kā.

Zendaya’s portrayal of Moana brings both strength and vulnerability to the character as she steps into her role as a leader and a hero. Her determination to save her island is clear when she tells Maui, “I’m not just a girl from the island. I’m the one who will save it.”
